Vinca Flower Vine. These popular white to pink flowers make a wonderful addition to low growing flower beds or any garden space that needs a pop of color. Annual vinca occasionally called periwinkle is not related to the perennial ground cover with the same common name.
As the name suggests the vinca vine is an evergreen vine with a slender trailing stem that usually does not. The shiny green leaves are set off by the multiple five-petaled blooms which appear continuously. Blooms are available in shades of pink red white and lavender with glossy green foliage.
They have the botanical name Vinca and are bred from species native to Europe.
Apr 08 2019 Annual vinca plants are low growing flowering plants that come in a selection of colors usually white to pink. This can be confusing because there are other plants in the genus Vinca that are perennial vines which are also called vinca or periwinkle. The vinca major is commonly known as variegated vinca while vinca minor is commonly called periwinkle flower and creeping myrtle. They are easily recognizable and well-known for their eye at the center of the bloom.
