According to the story Narcissus was the beautiful yet vain son of the nymph Leriope and Cephissus God of the River. Persephone discovered it because Zeus wanted her to so it could carry her away from his brother.
The story begins with the Narcissus flower and it was made to be the use of a god for his own purpose.
Many associate it with the tragic figure in Greek mythology that fell in love with his own reflection in the water and thus killed himself. Some call it grave flowers. Liriope Narcissus mother went to ask Tiresias if her son will live to old age. Narcissus had the looks to make any Greek god jealous and in his neighborhood was considered quite the catch all the village girls dreamed of.
