Scabiosa Caucasica Flowering. Caucasica is a clump-forming perennial to 60cm in height with entire grey-green basal leaves and incised stem leaves. Scabiosa caucasica is most often found in blue and white but you can also find this breed of pincushion flower in a perennial pink.
Plants form a low mound of green leaves with upright stems of large lacy blossoms in shades of blue lavender lilac and white. Flowers are also larger up to 2. Caucasica Miss Willmott and Bressingham White have white flowers.
Like all Pincushion Flowers it is at its most effective when planted in large groups.
Another common name for this pretty bloom is Caucasian Scabious. Their long needle-like pistils are said to resemble pins sticking into a pincushion. This plant has survived our winters for two years. Height and spread 2ft 60cm.
