Flowering is initiated by the intensity of light and Cape Primroses can flower 10 months out of the year in natural light on a north or east-facing window. They require a moist well-drained soil and partial shade. They should continue to bloom through the summer fall and even the winter.
It was originally native to Japan but is no longer found growing wild there.
