Exactly 70 years ago in 1946 the Italian Womens Union was looking for a flower to celebrate the very first Womens Day after the Second World War.

In 1946 two activists Rita Montagna and Teresa Mattei fighting for equality of women suggested to celebrate the first Womens Day after the war by offering branches of mimosa to other women as a sign of respect and support.
