Different Varieties Of Coreopsis. Coreopsis is a genus of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae. Coreopsis tinctoria now comes in a range of different colors and varieties but is the more traditional yellow-and-red bloomed variety that I grow each year in my garden.
How tall they grow how much they spread and how best to display them in my beds. The Coreopsis Nana grows just two to four inches tall. The flowers bloom early and flower continuously all summer long.
In truth the first year that I grew Coreopsis tinctoria from seed I had little idea about their ultimate dimensions.
One of these was a yellow sunburst type variety and the other was a beautiful dark red but the flowers on each were identical in sizeshape. There are hybrid dwarf varieties that make excellent potted-plant gifts or that work well in container plantings. Both of them did absolutely fantastic all summer. It spreads rapidly by rhizomes as well as seeds and forms creeping clumps that are 2 to 3 feet tall when in bloom.
