Crocus Flower Origin. Crocus is native to Mediterranean coast to Small Asia and is a cold-resistant perennial plant bulb plant of the Iridaceae Crocus genus. It could mean a fiber reference to the long stamens of the flower or a thread due to the use of saffron as a textile dye.
