The plant grows 2 to 6 feet tall and comes in double and semi-double flowers. Cosmos is an easy-care drought-tolerant annual which flowers prolifically. Although approximately 40 different species have currently been identified it is the Cosmos sulphureus and the Cosmos bipinnatus which are used most often by gardeners.

There are dozens of cultivars of annuals cosmos but at least four species.
