Buddleja Davidii Flower. 22032021 Buddleja Davidii commonly known as Summer lilac Orange eye or Butterfly bush is a species of flowering shrubs in the Scrophulariaceae family. Also reported from RI by George 1997 but specimens are unknown.
It typically grows to 6-12 less frequently to 15 tall with a spread to 4-15 wide when not killed back by cold winter temperatures. This lovely plant grows mostly in Japan and also several regions of China such as Hubei and Sichuan. Also reported from RI by George 1997 but specimens are unknown.
The flowers grow in long spikes.
Its flowers come in many colors though butterflies seem to prefer the lavender-pink mauve of the species to the white and dark purple cultivars. Roadsides forest borders waste areas. Davidii is a large fast-growing deciduous shrub to 3m tall with long arching shoots and lance-shaped pointed green or grey-green leaves up to 25cm long. This lovely plant grows mostly in Japan and also several regions of China such as Hubei and Sichuan.
